The most visited house in the country

The high number of people visiting the “Green Gables”, where the fictional red hair Anne Shirley, main character of the book … Anne of Green Gables by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, has not decreased over the decades. Green Gables is even among the top ten most visited houses in North America, along with the house of the legendary Elvis Presley in Memphis or the U.S. presidential residence in Washington DC.

The high interest in that small red hair orphan created by Maud Montgomery begins at the publication of her first book, in 1908. The author is surprised: it was her first published book, a story for girls, as she describes herself. Published by the Page Company of Boston, the book is selling like hot cakes: Released in June 1908, it at to be reissued four times in four months.

The story of the red hair orphan who finds herself to share the life of two old people (a brother and a sister) seems to touch the heart of American readers, British, Canadien readers and even Japanese readers! The story have been adapted for the little screen many times and is now available on dvd. Anne of Green Gables DVD is a great Canadian product you should own now!
