I have always been a fan of Lucy Maud Montgomery books as well as the Kevin Sullivan movies. Whether it was Anne of Green Gables, its sequel or Road to Avonlea, I have always been pleased with what Kevin Sullivan has achieved. However, this last movie of the trilogy is not at all what I expected. I am somewhat disappointed. While the movie is okay, somewhat decent, I did not think it was very representative of any of the books nor did it pictured Anne Shirley as how she should be. Kevin Sullivan took too much liberty with the storyline and I would definitely not call it a “continuing story”. This movie is not recommended for people who have read the book and have high expectations of the movie.

My husband and myself have watched the movie on TV, when it first aired. Our opinions were mixed. Because I am a fervent fan of Anne of Green Gables and have read every single book, my expectations were totally different, and I was shocked at the dissemblance between the movie and any of the book. However, my husband, who hasn’t read any of the book did find the movie quite interesting and decent. Sadly, a movie that I recommend for non Anne Shirley fans, and to complete your trilogy!

This movie was okay. Not a 5 stars, but not as bad as everyone depicts it to be. It sure does not follow the books, but the storyline is fine. A movie I recommend for entertainment, but don’t expect to recognize any parts from the books, there are none.

Simply love the series and the DVD!

I recorded this mini-series on my VHS years ago… I am so glad I bought the DVD version as the quality is so much better! My VHS version has some cuts because of the commercials, and I did missed of few seconds there and there, when I wasn’t ready to record when the commercials where over LOL. I haven’t watched Anne of Green Gables of Anne Shirley in years, but when I watched it, wow, it really touched my heart, as if I was watching the movie for the first time again! And you just can’t not fall in love with Gilbert Blythe (or re-fall in love in my situation). Jonathan Crombie and Megan Follows just make such a cute couple! And that KISSSS… Sorry for the spoiler!! =)

Best mini-series of my childhood

I grew up with those movies and those books, and after years, I still am taken away by the quality and how wonderful this mini-series is. I am so glad I bought this Anne of Green Gables dvd. You just can’t help but love Anne and her fun turmoils. There are 2 parts, Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea and a third movie, Anne of Green Gables : The continuing story was made in the early 2000 and does not follow the books. This Anne of Green Gables dvd is not an exact replica of the books as it does not follow it page by page, but is rather a combination of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novels. Whether you are a fan of L.M. Montgomery’s books or never read her book, you will love the movie. And if you haven’t read the books, I highly recommend reading them as well!

Timeless movie you and your family will love.
This is a charming mini series. The Anne of Green Gables DVD will enchant your whole family, including the non romantic ones. The story: End of the 19th century. Anne Shirley is a young orphan, 10 years of age, who is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, two siblings who live in Green Gables. Anne Shirley is a red hair girl, full of spirit and drive, who has a rich imagination. Her high sense of creativity and overflowing imagination bring her to live fun adventures and brings lots of turmoils to the people around her, in the village of Avonlea. Despite all her best intentions, Anne seems to always find herself in trouble. Most of the story involves Anne, her new best friend, Diana, and, of course, the handsome Gilbert Blythe with whom Anne has a very tumultuous relationship.

Young like old, boy like girls will be impressed with this film. This movie, adapted from the famous novel from Lucy Maud Montgomery is beautiful movie, both for the quality of the production and the details brought to every aspect of the movie. The movie is absolutely beautiful, the landscapes are a real delight and the details put in the setting and the costumes are remarkable.

The actors are a great fit with the characters they play and Megan Follow, who plays Anne Shirley and was 16 years old when they filmed the movie is outstanding. She plays this dreamy, smart and talkative little girl with lots of talent.
