The DVD version of AoGG casts bios, previews of the other “Anne” works by Sullivan films, and some of the movies in production.

For example, Sullivan does not understand why the episode where Anne thanks Matthew for the puffed sleeves dress. is such a big deal (…) Nevertheless, it is amazing to see Kevin Sullivan ability to capture the essence of that fierced red hair girl through Megan Follows, as well as  the rest of the cast Jonathan Crombie (Gilbert Blythe), Colleen Dewhurst (Marilla Cuthbert), Richard Farnsworth (Matthew Cuthbert) and Schuyler Grant (Diana Barry).

So whether you already have a videotaped version of Anne of Green Gables or not, make sure  to pick up the Anne of Green Gables DVD version as you will find your new expenditure worth every penny.

Simply love the series and the DVD!
I recorded this mini-series on my VHS years ago… I am so glad I bought the DVD version as the quality is so much better! My VHS version has some cuts because of the commercials, and I did missed of few seconds there and there, when I wasn’t ready to record when the commercials where over LOL. I haven’t watched Anne of Green Gables of Anne Shirley in years, but when I watched it, wow, it really touched my heart, as if I was watching the movie for the first time again! And you just can’t not fall in love with Gilbert Blythe (or re-fall in love in my situation). Jonathan Crombie and Megan Follows just make such a cute couple! And that KISSSS… Sorry for the spoiler!! =)

BBC created a mini-series in 6 parts in 1975,”Anne of Avonlea”, which is an adaptation of the book “Anne of Avonlea” and “Anne of the Island” by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The first book, “Anne of Green Gables” was adapted in 1972 in a 5-part mini-serie. The production stars are Kim Braden as Anne Shirley, Barbara Hamilton as Marilla Cuthbert, Jan Francis as Diana Barry, and Christopher Blake as Gilbert Blythe. The director of the movie is Joan Craft, who also did “Jane Eyre” and “David Copperfield”.
